At present I am in my final year of studying for a B.A. (HONS) in Fashion/Textiles at Colchester School of Art and Design. My current course has allowed me to develop an imaginative and innovative approach to design and experimentation, developing skills in garment construction and pattern cutting.
My work juxtaposes print and embellishment techniques with construction to reveal garments that are saturated in both historical and contemporary references, exploring amplified volume and body conscious fit. I am inspired by designers such as Erdem for his prints, saturated in a rich amalgamation of colour.
I was fortunate to gain a work placement with contemporary fashion designer Hannah Marshall, in which I assisted the designer in preparation for her spring/summer 2009 collection for London fashion week. This gave me an insight into the industry, further enriching my appreciation of high end construction techniques and refined tailoring.
As well as construction I have a great interest in fashion illustration, and after my degree hope to further my skill within this field.
